About this event

The Llangollen Railway describes its Santa Special as its most enchanting train of the year, a treasured tradition on the heritage line through the Dee Valley. A steam-hauled heritage train makes a return journey from Llangollen Station, in carriages decked in festive finery with carols playing.

Santa makes his way through the train and gives a special gift to every child, while adults receive a complimentary mince pie and a warming tipple of mulled wine. The operator calls the trains "trains to Lapland" and uses Carrog Station as "Lapland", where food can be collected.

Three kinds of seating are sold: individual seats in open carriages, a First Class compartment for up to six passengers with a table, and a Standard private compartment for up to eight. Passengers can pre-order food when booking, collect a food token at Llangollen Station on arrival and pick up the meal at Carrog.
