Pumpkin Junction — Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum

The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera, Alabama, runs Pumpkin Junction as an old-fashioned family fun event. A train ride takes guests to what the operator calls its big backyard, which it describes as more than a place to buy a pumpkin: a place for outdoor family fun, crafts, inflatables, food vendors and a hayride. An adults-only wine tasting from Ozan Winery & Distillery may be available.

The operator says the event is designed to be an engaging option for children with unique sensorial needs, and asks guests to tell its team about any special needs or preferences.

A train ride of about 25 minutes, then about 60 minutes at the Junction with crafts, inflatables, food vendors, a hayride and pumpkins. Cars and seats are unassigned; caboose and locomotive tickets may be available.
