Juletoget — Krøderbanen

Krøderbanen is a Norwegian museum railway run by Norsk Jernbaneklubb and Stiftelsen Krøderbanen. The line opened in 1872 as a narrow-gauge railway and was rebuilt to standard gauge when the Bergen Line opened in 1909. It closed as a state line in 1985 and has been run as a museum railway since then.

After the ordinary summer season ends, the railway keeps running events through the year. One of them is what the operator calls the traditional Christmas train, held on the first Sunday of Advent. In its announcement of the latest edition the operator describes a Christmas train between Krøderen and Kløftefoss with several departures in both directions during the day, mulled wine and gingerbread and the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree at Krøderen station, a Christmas market with stalls at Krøderen station and another Christmas market in the community hall next to Kløftefoss station.

Krøderen station, where the day begins, is a protected technical monument that keeps its installations from the steam era.

The operator describes the Juletoget as a traditional event on the first Sunday of Advent: Christmas trains between Krøderen and Kløftefoss with several departures in both directions, mulled wine and gingerbread at Krøderen station, the lighting of the Christmas tree and a Christmas market at both ends of the line. Times and ticket details are announced closer to the date.

Trains start at Krøderen station, Krøderfjordveien 440, Krøderen. The operator publishes the times and ticket sales for the Christmas train separately, closer to the date. If the station area is full, there is parking on the north side of the locomotive shed and along county road 191 south of the station.
