Pepernotenexpres — Stoomtrein Katwijk Leiden

Stoomtrein Katwijk Leiden, the heritage railway museum at the Valkenburgse Meer in Valkenburg (South Holland), runs the Pepernotenexpres in late November. The museum describes it as a popular event to which Sint and his Pieten come back again.

The museum is a working steam railway: on its normal opening days a steam train leaves every full hour, and a ticket gives access to the indoor and outdoor museum all day. On event days departure times can differ from the normal timetable, and the operator posts changes on the board on the platform.

The operator says reservations are necessary for the Pepernotenexpres and that a surcharge is asked on top of the normal tariff. It reports that the tickets for the previous edition sold out quickly.
