Dickens Expres — Museumstoomtram Hoorn-Medemblik

The Museumstoomtram Hoorn-Medemblik runs the Dickens Expres, a special evening ride from the Hoorn tram station to Medemblik for Dickensdag. The operator says the gas lanterns at the station are lit and steam from the locomotive keeps the carriages warm.

At the end of the afternoon the tram takes a little over an hour from Hoorn to Medemblik. At the Christmas market in the historic centre more than 150 extras, musicians and choir members walk around in Dickens style. Passengers receive a map showing the activities in Medemblik.

Several Medemblik restaurants serve a special Dickens menu; the operator stresses it is not included in the Dickens Expres and advises reserving with a restaurant. Snacks and drinks are on sale at the Dickens market and on and in the tram. Halfway through the evening the steam tram brings passengers back to Hoorn.

A little over an hour by steam tram from Hoorn to Medemblik at the end of the afternoon, time at the Dickensdag Christmas market with performers in Dickens style, and the return trip to Hoorn halfway through the evening.

Departs from the Tramstation Hoorn, Van Dedemstraat 8, Hoorn. The Dickens menu in Medemblik restaurants is not included in the ticket and capacity in the restaurants is limited, so the operator advises booking early. The Dickensdag market itself is free to enter and open from 15:00 to 21:00 according to the Dickensdag flyer on the operator's site. E-tickets are sold through the operator's webshop.
