About this event

The Waterloo Central Railway runs The Nightlight Christmas Special as an evening heritage train experience. As the train travels along the Winter Line after dark, the operator describes a glowing, storybook adventure of twinkling lights, festive music and storytelling.

A cast of railway and woodland characters, including those who keep watch over the railway after dark, bring the journey to life with playful interactions and small surprises, and a special visit from Santa finishes the trip. It is sold for all ages, with Coach seating in groups of four or Lounge Car seating with upholstered chairs and an extra special holiday gift; every passenger receives a holiday gift. The operator invites guests to wear Christmas pajamas.

Boards at the WCR Farmers' Market Station, 330 Farmers Market Road, Waterloo, Ontario N2J 4G8, between the St. Jacobs Farmers Market and the Value Village shopping centre; parking is free in the Value Village lot beside the platform. Refunds are only issued if the railway cancels a train. Children under 2 ride free on an adult's lap and cannot be booked without an adult ticket. The train cars lack full accessibility for guests with significant mobility challenges. There is no public boarding or parking at the railway's St. Jacobs Village location on Isabella Street.
