This camera looks west across CSX's Berkshire Subdivision at the restored 1862 Chester Railroad Station in Chester, Massachusetts, operated by the YouTube channel Boston and Maine Live.
The Berkshire Subdivision is double-tracked at this point, though it narrows to single track between Chester and Westfield — a stopped train here is usually waiting for another to clear that section. The operator estimates roughly 10–15 trains pass in each direction over 24 hours, a mix of general manifest, intermodal (stack), autorack and tank-car freight, sometimes with a mid-train distributed power unit helping over the Berkshire grade. Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited (Chicago–Boston) has historically passed in the afternoon, though the operator notes the schedule was reduced during the COVID-19 period and may not run daily.
The depot itself is the Chester Railway Station & Museum, restored and operated by The Chester Foundation, with an early steam engine, boxcars and a caboose on the grounds (the caboose can be rented for overnight stays). The museum is open weekends, 11 a.m.–3 p.m., July through September.
What to watch for
Watch for CSX Maintenance-of-Way trucks that drive along the rails to inspect the line — not a train. A train sitting still here is most often waiting for an opposing move to clear the single-track section toward Westfield.
