Heidenheim — Brenz Bridge Replacement

Deutsche Bahn is renewing the railway bridge carrying the Brenzbahn (Aalen–Heidenheim–Ulm) line over the Brenz river immediately south of Heidenheim (Brenz) station, together with the Piltz'sche Unterführung, a pedestrian/cycle underpass running beneath the rail bridge that links the city centre to the Oststadt district; the underpass is being rebuilt step-free at the same time. The Brenzbahn between Heidenheim and Giengen (Brenz) was fully closed from 30 July to 12 September 2026 while the new roughly 62 m steel arch superstructure was lifted into place by heavy crane; regional trains resumed on 13 September 2026. The underpass itself remains closed for barrier-free reconstruction until an expected spring 2027. The livestream is produced by LIVE DOKU TV, a construction-webcam broadcaster, in cooperation with Wolff & Müller, the contractor carrying out the works — not by Deutsche Bahn itself, which is the client (Bauherr).
