Virtual Railfan's Greencastle cameras sit at the historic High Line Train Station, a 1909 building managed by the Greencastle Area Youth Foundation, six miles north of the Maryland state line in Franklin County. The line below is Norfolk Southern's Lurgan Branch, part of the Harrisburg Division, running between Lees Cross Roads, Pennsylvania and Hagerstown, Maryland. This is a freight corridor: the Lurgan Branch feeds the Hagerstown gateway, one of the busier interchange points in the mid-Atlantic. Two cameras are published. The east-facing camera, free and carrying the chat, looks towards Harrisburg; a west-facing camera pointing at Hagerstown is reserved for Virtual Railfan members. The stream monitors 160.950 MHz (AAR 56), the Norfolk Southern road channel for the Lurgan Branch.
What to watch for
This is Norfolk Southern freight and nothing else — no passenger service on the Lurgan Branch — so the interest is in the traffic feeding Hagerstown: intermodal, manifest, and the interchange moves that make the gateway work. The 1909 station building is in frame, and the operator names the direction of each camera so you can tell which way a train is headed: east towards Harrisburg on the public view, west towards Hagerstown on the members' view.
