About this cam
The Tyrone Area Historical Society streams its first 24/7 camera from the observation patio behind the free Tyrone History Museum, watching trains on Norfolk Southern's main line — the former Pennsylvania Railroad — through Tyrone, Pennsylvania, not far from the famous Horseshoe Curve.
The station platform behind the museum has welcomed travelers to Tyrone since 1850. Originally home of the Pennsylvania Railroad, the tracks have seen over a century of continuous use and remain active today under Norfolk Southern. The Tyrone Area Historical Society, founded in 1990, has collected hundreds of historical artifacts on display in its free museum at 850 Pennsylvania Avenue.
The famous Horseshoe Curve — one of American railroading's best-known landmarks — lies down the same line, and this stretch has long drawn railfans to Blair County.
What to watch for
Norfolk Southern freight movements and maintenance-of-way equipment on the yard tracks (a track machine was visible in the qualifying frame); the historic station platform and canopy. Amtrak's Pennsylvanian uses this Norfolk Southern corridor between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, though a stop at Tyrone itself is not confirmed by the operator.
