Virtual Railfan's Texarkana cameras sit at the Historic 1894 Market, straddling the Arkansas–Texas state line, with Union Pacific's Little Rock Subdivision — the former Missouri Pacific double main — directly in front of the lens and the ex-Cotton Belt Pine Bluff Subdivision at the back of the yard. The operator expects roughly 35 freights a day plus both Amtrak Texas Eagles.

About this cam

The cameras are mounted at the Historic 1894 Market, which — in Virtual Railfan's words — "owns and overlooks the Alley Cats Coffee Bar—a unique local spot for fresh-brewed coffee located within the Concho, a former Santa Fe 27-seat club-lounge-dorm car built by Pullman-Standard in 1940". The coffee bar is literally inside a preserved streamliner car, and the camera looks out over the railroad from beside it. What that camera covers is a genuine two-railroad crossroads. "Straddling the Arkansas-Texas state line, our cameras showcase the Union Pacific Little Rock Subdivision (former Missouri Pacific double main) right in front of the lens, and the Pine Bluff Subdivision (former Cotton Belt main and siding) at the back of the yard." Texarkana is where Missouri Pacific and the St. Louis Southwestern — the Cotton Belt — both reached, and both are now Union Pacific; the operator's own framing keeps those predecessor identities visible. The traffic claim, in the operator's wording, is "approximately 35 daily freight trains from Union Pacific and BNSF Railway, along with two daily Amtrak Texas Eagle passenger trains serving the adjacent station". Beyond straight UP tonnage, the description flags "regular BNSF trackage-rights manifest trains" and "BNSF-powered empty coal trains utilizing the Texas Northeastern Railroad yard connection to transfer over to CPKC" — which is why the published scanner list carries CPKC road channels next to the UP ones. Two views are offered: a fixed camera pointed north, and a PTZ camera steered from the live chat, so the framing changes with whatever the chat is following.

What to watch for

Sort the trains by which railroad they belong to and which track they are on. Straight ahead is Union Pacific's Little Rock Subdivision, the old Missouri Pacific double main; behind the yard is the Pine Bluff Subdivision, the old Cotton Belt main and siding. Union Pacific dominates, but watch for BNSF trackage-rights manifests, and for the BNSF-powered empty coal trains that use the Texas Northeastern Railroad yard connection to hand off to CPKC — a three-railroad move in one frame. Twice a day, Amtrak's Texas Eagle calls at the adjacent station: southbound to San Antonio, northbound to Chicago. The PTZ camera is driven from the live chat, so asking politely gets the lens moved. Scanner: UP road on 160.515 MHz (AAR 27) and 161.550 MHz (AAR 96), CPKC road on 160.260 MHz (AAR 10) and 160.350 MHz (AAR 16). One geographic curiosity worth knowing before you watch: Texarkana's railroad is split between two states, and the operator says outright that this view straddles the Arkansas–Texas line.
