Bálsamo, São Paulo — Railway Line

Bálsamo's own railway station, inaugurated in 1941 on the Estrada de Ferro Araraquara (EFA) trunk line at kilometer 231.686, stood deliberately away from the town center, on high ground at roughly 544 m elevation. The EFA became part of FEPASA in 1971, and after privatization the corridor — now Rumo's Malha Paulista concession — continues to carry freight traffic through the interior of São Paulo state, though regular passenger service on this line ended in 2001.
