Pindorama, São Paulo — Railway Level Crossing

This camera looks over a gated road crossing in the town of Pindorama, inland Sao Paulo state. The first passenger train reached Pindorama (then called Palmares) on May 1, 1910, on the Companhia Araraquara de Estrada de Ferro; for decades the line's importance and the town's architecture and climate earned it the nickname "the Perola da Araraquarense" (Pearl of the Araraquarense). The operator that built the line went through several names -- Estrada de Ferro Araraquarense, FEPASA, Ferroban, Ferronorte -- before today's concessionaire, Rumo Logistica.

The line is still an active freight corridor. Viewers in this channel's live chat have logged Brado Logistica double-stack container trains passing through -- one comment traced a specific train back to a departure from the Boa Vista Velha terminal in Campinas the previous evening, arriving in Pindorama roughly 12 hours later.
