About this cam
This camera in Kanda Neribei-cho, Chiyoda, looks at the tracks north of Akihabara Station on the Okachimachi side, with the Yamanote, Keihin-Tohoku and Ueno-Tokyo lines in front of it. The operator lists the tracks from the front: three stabling tracks, the Ueno-Tokyo Line, the southbound Keihin-Tohoku, the two Yamanote tracks and the northbound Keihin-Tohoku.
The channel, North Akihabara Live Camera, presents the stream as a live view from Akihabara where passing trains can be enjoyed, with a test earthquake early-warning chime that sounds on the audio. The operator reloads the picture every 30 minutes to recover from camera dropouts, and opens a new stream slot three times a day, at 01:06, 09:06 and 17:06 when all goes well.
The frame shows a gap between hotel and office towers with several tracks, stabled trains and a viaduct beyond, and a street with lights below on the right. The operator notes that the camera has only just opened and may be paused for adjustments.
What to watch for
Yamanote, Keihin-Tohoku and Ueno-Tokyo Line trains on the running tracks, and trainsets parked on the three stabling tracks of the Akihabara yard.
