Sapporo, Hokkaido — Streetcar at Chūō-Kuyakusho-mae

Minami 1-jō-dōri runs east–west through central Sapporo, one block south of Ōdōri Park. The operator's own description traces the street back to the early Meiji era, when it was known as Ōshima-dōri and regarded as the starting point of the city's development — some of Sapporo's first townhouses were built along it.

Running north–south beneath the camera is Ishiyama-dōri (National Route 230), which the operator traces to the “Honganji Road”, opened in 1870 by monks of Higashi Honganji; the name “Ishiyama” comes from stone quarrying that began in the area during the Meiji period. The route links central Sapporo to the Ishiyama district and on toward Jōzankei hot springs.

The Sapporo Streetcar has run through this intersection since 1918, stopping right below the camera at Chūō-Kuyakusho-mae (SC03), in front of the Chūō Ward Office. The stream also carries an added lofi soundtrack layered over the traffic footage, per the operator's own description.
