About this cam
This camera looks out from the landmark former Chicago & North Western Railroad Powerhouse (built 1909-1911) over the Chicago Transit Authority Green and Pink Line tracks and Clinton station, with the CTA Lake Street Tower and the entrance to the Loop visible to the east. Union Pacific / Metra commuter tracks leading into the Ogilvie Transportation Center run just below the CTA structure.
This webcam is mounted on the former Chicago & North Western Railroad Powerhouse, a three-story Beaux-Arts building constructed between 1909 and 1911 to supply electricity and steam heat to the C&NW terminal complex. Redeveloped into office and retail space by Structured Development, it is a designated City of Chicago Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The view frames the Chicago Transit Authority's Green and Pink Line tracks and Clinton station, with the CTA Lake Street Tower and the entrance to "the Loop" visible looking east. Union Pacific / Metra commuter tracks leading into the Ogilvie Transportation Center run at grade just below the elevated CTA structure.
