About this cam
Looking north from the historic C&NW Powerhouse, this camera frames the CTA Green/Pink Line's elevated curve above the ground-level Union Pacific/Metra commuter tracks leading to Ogilvie Transportation Center, with the downtown Chicago skyline beyond.
This webcam is mounted on the former Chicago & North Western Railroad Powerhouse, a three-story Beaux-Arts building constructed between 1909 and 1911 to supply electricity and steam heat to the C&NW terminal complex. Redeveloped into office and retail space by Structured Development, it is a designated City of Chicago Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Looking north, the camera frames the CTA Green/Pink Line's elevated curve above the ground-level Union Pacific / Metra commuter tracks leading to Ogilvie Transportation Center, with the downtown Chicago skyline beyond. The site also hosts an ATCS radio server monitoring Canadian National, Canadian Pacific Kansas City, Metra and Norfolk Southern traffic for area model railroad layouts.
