About this cam
This eastward-facing camera from the historic C&NW Powerhouse overlooks the throat of tracks leading into Ogilvie Transportation Center, used by Metra's Union Pacific West, Northwest and North commuter lines, with the CTA Green/Pink Line's Clinton station also in view against the downtown Chicago skyline.
This webcam is mounted on the former Chicago & North Western Railroad Powerhouse, a three-story Beaux-Arts building constructed between 1909 and 1911 to supply electricity and steam heat to the C&NW terminal complex. Redeveloped into office and retail space by Structured Development, it is a designated City of Chicago Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Looking east, the camera frames the throat of tracks leading into Ogilvie Transportation Center, hosting Metra's Union Pacific West (to Elburn), Northwest (to Harvard) and North (to Kenosha, WI) commuter lines, with the CTA Green/Pink Line's Clinton station also visible against the downtown Chicago skyline.
