About this cam
Railcam UK's third, north-facing camera at Ramsbottom station on the East Lancashire Railway, by the wooden-gated level crossing at the north end of the platforms.
Ramsbottom station opened on 28 September 1846, closed to passengers on 5 June 1972, and reopened as part of the East Lancashire Railway heritage line on 25 July 1987. It keeps both original platforms, linked by a footbridge relocated from Dinting station, with a Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway-pattern canopy built on platform 2 in 2006-2007.
At the northern end of the platforms a wooden-gated level crossing, worked by a traditional signal box, carries a road over the line. Beyond it the East Lancashire Railway continues north through Irwell Vale to its current terminus at Rawtenstall.
