Railcam UK's camera on the East Lancashire Railway. The operator states: "East Lancashire Railway - Ramsbottom Cam1 camera - looking South towards Sumerseat."

About this cam

The East Lancashire Railway runs twelve miles up the Irwell valley from Bury Bolton Street to Rawtenstall, with a branch east to Heywood, and it is one of the busiest preserved railways in the north of England. Railcam UK streams a network of cameras along the line. The operator describes this one precisely: "East Lancashire Railway - Ramsbottom Cam1 camera - looking South towards Sumerseat." It adds that the installation is "one of a whole suite of cameras in partnership with the ELR", and directs viewers to the railway itself at https://www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk/ for timetables and events. The streams carry the joint credit "(c) Railcam UK / East Lancashire Railway".

What to watch for

The southern approach: the operator states the camera looks "South towards Sumerseat", so trains climbing from Bury appear head-on. Ramsbottom is where the ELR's two-train service crosses, and the station is the base for its dining trains.
