Railcam UK's Bushbury Junction camera watches the Birmingham Loop of the West Coast Main Line just north of Wolverhampton, where freight and passenger trains share a busy four-track corridor.
About this cam
The Birmingham Loop is the section of the West Coast Main Line that leaves the fast route at Rugby, runs through Coventry, Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton, and rejoins near Stafford. Bushbury Junction is at its northern end, and the operator places the camera precisely: "situated close to Bushbury Junction, just north of Bushbury Down Goods Loop, on the Birmingham Loop of the West Coast Main Line between Wolverhampton and Stafford." Railcam UK describes the traffic in its own words: "A wide variety of freight and passenger working make this a busy camera." It also publishes a look-ahead so you can see what is due — "see whats passing in the next hour" — linked from the stream description. This is the free-to-view version on YouTube. Railcam offers the same camera advert-free to anyone who registers a free account on its own site, which is where its other hundred-plus cameras live.
What to watch for
Freight above all — Bushbury Down Goods Loop is right beside the camera, so trains are often held or crawling, which makes them easy to read. Between them, Avanti West Coast and West Midlands Trains services running between Wolverhampton and Stafford. The stream overlay names the directions for you: "<< North - Stafford/Crewe" and "Whmptn/Besct/Birmghm - South >>".
