About this cam
The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) is a five-mile heritage line running from Keighley to Oxenhope through the Worth Valley in West Yorkshire, with six stations: Keighley, Ingrow West, Damems, Oakworth, Haworth and Oxenhope. The Preservation Society reopened the branch in June 1968, weeks before steam finally ended on British Railways.
This Railcam UK camera sits on the railway's main passing loop, looking north toward Damems signal box and Damems station in the distance. Damems opened in 1867, closed in 1949 and reopened with the preserved line in 1968; the KWVR's own site describes it as Britain's smallest standard-gauge railway station, a request stop with a platform only one coach long — trains only call there if a passenger tells the guard in advance.
KWVR runs scheduled steam train services every weekend of the year, and daily through the summer, alongside occasional locomotive galas, Santa Steam Specials, dining trains and its annual Beer & Music Festival each October.
What to watch for
Trains crossing on the passing loop — the point of this camera's position — plus movements at Damems signal box and, in the distance, Britain's smallest standard-gauge station, where trains only stop on request. KWVR's services are steam-hauled and run to a weekend-year-round, daily-in-summer schedule.
Best viewing times
Weekends year-round, and daily through the summer season, when the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway runs its scheduled steam services (operator's own schedule, kwvr.co.uk).
